Mission:

To foster and promote a cohesive and synergistic environment for interdisciplinary and collaborative research across the Virginia Tech campus in the area of emerging, re-emerging, zoonotic, and vector-borne pathogens infecting humans, animals and plants.

  • Be part of a cohesive and diverse group of >100 infectious disease faculty from 7 colleges to promote collegial interactions and new scientific collaborations;
  • Participate in interdisciplinary collaborative research projects within CeZAP to tackle complex problems in infectious diseases;
  • Access to recruitment and financial support of top graduate students through an interdisciplinary graduate education program (iGEP) in infectious diseases;
  • Access to CeZAP’s seed funding program for faculty collaborative research and student training;
  • Have opportunities to participate in CeZAP’s graduate training grant, program project grant, and center grant from federal funding agencies;
  • Present your research and scholarship at CeZAP’s workshops, seminars, biennial symposium, and other activities.

Responsibilities as an affiliated faculty:

  • Willingness to participate in new interdisciplinary collaborations with other CeZAP faculty;
  • Agree to serve on various CeZAP committees;
  • Be willing to participate in recruiting and mentoring graduate students for the iGEP in infectious diseases;
  • Attend CeZAP workshop, seminar, biennial symposium, and social events;
  • Timely annual reporting of CeZAP activities.
